Steve Gilliard
After several catastrophic health issues, progressive blogger Steve Gilliard passed away yesterday. He was only 41.

Steve was rather infamous here on the conservative side of the blogosphere for featuring a black-face Photoshop of 2006 U.S. Senate candidate Michael Steele (R-MD). Steele is a black man (so was Gilliard, obviously).
When one's ideological opponent dies, it's sometimes difficult, if not impossible, to say nice things about him/her. However, the nicest thing that I can say about Steve is that I wish that he hadn't died so young and suffered so much along the way.
Go with God (hopefully), Steve.

Poor fellow. He went through so much in those last few years; I hesitate to say that it did something to him other than the obvious physical distress, but I don't think anyone is really capable of the detachment it would take to shrug off that kind of cascading illness. (At least, I know I'm not.)

Vaya con Dios.
Friend or enemy, disagreeing with me doesn't make someone evil. I may not have anything nice to say about his life, but I don't have anything vindictive to offer about his passing either. May his loved ones find solace.
