Toward a Meaningful Veteran's Day
Come on, Air Force! At least make it to ten grand!!!!
YES!!! Go, Air Force! And keep going!!!!
(This post will remain at the top until November 12.)
I didn’t know that there was a new drive for Project Valour-IT. As you can see, I still have the old banner up on the right sidebar. [Note: Not any more.] However, Project Valour-IT most definitely is a worthwhile charity in what ever form it takes. To review, this Soldiers’ Angels program exists to raise money to buy special computer equipment for GIs who are permanently disabled due to injury stemming from service in the Global War on Terror.
This drive will last until Veteran’s Day--November 11--and is dedicated to the memory of SFC William V. Ziegenfuss:
Project Valour-IT, in memory of SFC William V. Ziegenfuss, provides voice-controlled software and laptop computers to wounded Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines recovering from hand and arm injuries or amputations at major military medical centers. Operating laptops by speaking into a microphone, our wounded heroes are able to send and receive messages from friends and loved ones, surf the 'Net, and communicate with buddies still in the field without having to press a key or move a mouse. The experience of CPT Charles "Chuck" Ziegenfuss, a partner in the project who suffered hand wounds while serving in Iraq, illustrates how important this voice-controlled software can be to a wounded servicemember's recovery. This time the donation teams are separated by service just to take advantage of the rivalry that exists between us loving sibling services. Unfortunately, however, we have a problem: Greyhawk’s and my Air Force is bringing up the rear in the donation race.
You can change that by donating to this most worthy cause under the Air Force banner. However, I will still love you (maybe) if you add to totals of one of the other services. Mrs. Greyhawk is the Team Leader for the Air Force donations. The others are...
Squids Navy: Mrs. Citizen Smash
Jarheads Marines: Holly Aho
Grunts Army: Blackfive
Giving from the heart always feels good—especially when you give to those who have given so much to all of us.
(Thanks to Cal Tech Girl for the tech of course)

Just a note to let you know clicking your picture just takes you to the PayPal sign-in page. I had to go to Greyhawk's and click thru from there to get to the Valour IT donation page.

If I had not been blinded in one eye when I was 19 I'm pretty sure I would be a Marine so I always look for them (I know, easy to say, but I believe it)
I've been trying the Marine Corps link at Holly Aho for a few days and it just won't work.
Is there another link for the Marines?

I had no problem getting there from clicking on your picture. There were two sides to that screen: 1) to donate now or something; or 2) sign in.
Go Air Force!

I would have donated two days earlier, but kept getting errors on the Air Force donation page. Finally emailed Mrs. Greyhawk to let her know. I'm betting you missed out on more donations because of PayPal problems. Glad I was finally able to hit a "yes" button.
