Desperados
The leftists are in an uproar because some of them think that the president flipped off the press. Not that they don't deserve it, but, for the record, I saw this on TV; some guy asked GWB in Spanish whether CAFTA was dead or not. The president gave the guy the thumbs up in answer. (More about CAFTA this weekend.)
The comments in the above link are hilarious, however; as if that group hasn't seen a "you're number one" signal before.

I wish W WAS flipping off the press! So often they deserve it. Funny!

Yeah, I'm a "leftist" and I think it would be pretty funny if Bush did flip off the press (it doesn't look like he did).

No, the press will see what they want to see, that is, anything bad about Bush.
They even "interpreted" the "Texas Longhorn" sign once used by Bush as a sign of loyalty to Satan...(actually, in Italian neighborhoods, it is the sign used to ward off Satan, and in ASL class, it means I love you, but never mind those three innocent explanations...)

Awwww.... It IS his thumb. I so wish it was his middle finger. I was flashing back to when Governor Nelson Rockefeller flipped off the press from the tarmac with a big SEG on his face. He was my HERO!!!
Then the way he died!!! Whatta guy! :)

In one way, un-noticed by most of the public, Dubya has 'flipped' off the press.
Her name is Helen Thomas. She had become such a fixture of the White House Press Corp and it was a tradition that she be the first to be called on during a Press Conference. (Mind you; few, even in the press know why that is, she was the first and for a long time the ONLY female in the White House Press Corps - hence 'lady first' - sexist? yes, but she used it to her advantage)
Then Dubya came on the scene. Ms. Thomas (not that it matters, but she is of Lebanonese descent) did nothing to hide her dislike (to put it mildly) of Dubya. One day the President called on her and she said;
'Mr President, why are you so insistant on bombing innocent Iraqi women and children?'
This 'question' is not a question, it isn't even a simple statement; It is, in fact, an ACCUSATION. Well, that was the last time the president called on Helen Thomas.
So, you see, Dubya (whom many call stupid) isn't so stupid after all. He'll 'flip' off the press; but in his own clever way.
Gotta love that man!
