Same Old Story
"There's no excuse. The money we spend in one year in Iraq would pay for 20 years of helping Africa."--Madeline Albright, Secretary of State during the Clinton Administration
What a coincidence! The Dafur genocide--along with every other evil in this world--started on that magical date of January 20, 2001! /sarcsm
People like Former Secretary of State Albright assume that we unwashed have memories too short to remember that
Gilbert Lewthwaite and Gregory Kane of the Baltimore Sun bought slaves to prove a point about the conditions in the Sudan in 1997. Albright did not raise a finger to help.(Emphasis mine.)The world turned a blind eye, as it did in Rwanda and Sierra Leone, Afghanistan, Iraq and every other hellhole in the world.
With her presumed influence, Madame Secretary could be part of the solution instead of part of the peanut gallery. However, that would entail swallowing enough pride to be able to say "we were too afraid to act and we allowed the situation(s) to get worse. Don't do the same."
Meanwhile, a drop of urine accidentally touches a book an there is international outrage and caterwauling about the "evil Americans."

And things repeat in the Sudan...

Did you miss the "don't do the same" line?

And perhaps mad Madeline will tell us why her hero Billy Clinton didn't do crap to help the helpless in Rwanda. With the Dhimocrats it's damned if you do and damned if you don't. Nothing more than a circle jerk for do-nothing liberals who are more concerned with same-sex marriage.

And the regime change that the money paid for will do more than a century of pouring $$$ into the coffers of the various brigands, dictators, and despots running Africa. Of course, a well-placed bullet in the forehead of Mugabe would be money well-spent.
As for Rwanda, a regiment of Marines would have stopped that nonsense cold - where were you Madeline...

Shouldn't that be FUBARista? ;-) Describes Ms. Albright's diplomacy.

Of all the members of the Clinton presidency, I'd have to say Madame Albright is the one that makes my skin crawl and shiver uncontrollably...and that's just READING her policies, not listening to her or (shudder) watching her spew.
Before the new Pope was chosen, she was my winner for the "Most closely resembling Emporer Palpatine" award.

Timmer,
I have to partially agree with you. My only potential disagreement is between Madame Albright and Janet Reno with the help of Jamie Gorelick. That one would be a tossup in my book.

Someone on PBS from Africa said the problem with a lot of African States is governmental corruption.
Slavery is still practiced in places. Africa is many nations with different styled governments.
In Sudan, is it not Muslin killing non-Muslins? Does Albright think there is no blood on the Clinton administration's
hands in Africa? If she is so smart and pretty (forget pretty) versus Condi Rice, why did things happen during Clinton's eight years. We still have UN (French) peace keepers raping young girls (not paying for women). Clinton sat on Islamic terror in east Africa and USS Cole blown into with our sailors killed and hurt! I know couple that left Kenya before explosions. They are scared to return.

It was a "speaking out loud" comment, not one directed towards you.

I'll bet the wine glasses Maddy clinked with Kim Jong Il could go pretty far in an African market.
