I Don't Drink Soda Anyway
Sorry, Big Boys and Girls. I read Pepsico CFO Indra Nooyi's whole Columbia University commencement speech--.pdf file via Powerline--and I don't see what the big deal is. Aren't we always lamenting the leftist tendency to quote/take stuff out of context?
There are better incidents over which to form a blogswarm.

Remind me to buy you a - well, not a Coke, obviously. :)

You've got that right. The Blogswam de jour routine is getting quite tedious.

Say, my favorite drink--Di-Hyrogen Monoxide--still seems to be a good drink choice.

I don't really see the problem. Someone representing a very large corporation said something stupid. Hardly anyone is likely to hear about it through traditional media channels. Chances are, a good number of people (like me) will base their purchasing habits on such moments of stupidity. That's the whole point of blogging for a large number of people: Bringing things not reported in the MSM into the spotlight.
Out of context? It seemed pretty clear to me.

Yeah, I lost interest in Hewitt after his Target boycott last year. I guess I'm a little bored with the right is always right routine.
I mean, c'mon, I'm as big a conservative as I know, and Hewitt gives me the willies.

Why is it then that the complaint coming from so many on the left is that we are giving the Iraqis too much? The complaint is not that we are giving our middle finger but "an arm and a leg".

Rule # 1 It's only "cultural insensitivity" if the left thinks it is. Gerard try this link it may save your life. http://www.dhmo.org/

Well yes, I think it is a big deal--even if you read the speech without the hand signals. She knew exactly what she was doing. A CEO of a major corporation, a minority woman, uses the middle finger while pointing out all our deficits to graduates of a prestigious university. And she thinks an American woman who complains about a hole in the floor for a toilet in China is an "ugly American?" She's no prize herself when it comes to representing the USA.

Like your blog! Found the link at La Shawn Barber.
I don't know if it was worth a blogswarm, either, but I can tell you I am glad to know about it and I won't be buying PepsiCo products.

Pepsico, BTW, isn't just soft drinks. It's also all Frito-Lay, Quaker, Sobe, Tropicana, and Gatorade products, among other things. Visit their site at:
http://www.pepsico.com
Then click on Company/Brands and Companies; they'll show you all their brands.

Whether it was worth a "blogswarm" or not, what Nooyi had to say was ill-considered and piss-poor for a commencement speech. Has she been sleeping with Michael Moore?

Mary's post looks like spam to me. The clincher is the fake email addy. Delete this when you delete hers, J, It'll help with the continuity.

Tom McLaughlin's comments at Powerline re: Indra Nooyi's incredibly stupid , and, yes, insulting remarks are right on. And THIS American is insulted. It IS a big deal. She deserves the swarm.

Ahh get over it. Why? Unless we as people UNITE and do something en masse, the megacorporations can say what they want. And it takes a 9/11 type event to unite us so get over it. Drink your Pepsi with pride.
