This is probably the coin that Donald Rumsfeld gave to the grieviously injured soldier from the Banty Rooster link in the previous post.
Such tokens are highly prized. The gentleman more than earned it.

He deserves far more. How America manages to produce the finest soldiers in the world, like that young man, is sometimes beyond understanding. Our prayer for all of you this Christmas Day.

Few civilians, and certainly none of the media, can grasp the importance of receiving such a coin.
Just another example of their total ignorance of all things military.
