The senator's denigrating the action of our troops and commanders in the field without knowing the facts. Unfortunately, that's part of a pattern of saying almost anything to get elected, like when Senator Kerry charged that our military failed to get Osama bin Laden at Tora Bora even though our top military commander, General Tommy Franks, said the senator's understanding of events does not square with reality and our intelligence reports placed bin Laden in any of several different countries at the time.
Our military is now investigating a number of possible scenarios, including that the explosives may have been moved before our troops even arrived at the site. This investigation is important and it's ongoing, and a political candidate who jumps to conclusions without knowing the facts is not a person you want as your commander in chief.(Emphasis mine.)
Slams the troops without knowing all the (possibly classified) facts.
Some people change in thirty years. Others don’t. The funny thing is that Senator Kerry probably doesn't even understand that it is the troops and commanders in the field (some dead), that he has impugned. If he did, he would have long ago apologized for the following.
I would like to talk, representing all those veterans, and say that several months ago in Detroit, we had an investigation at which over 150 honorably discharged and many very highly decorated veterans testified to war crimes committed in Southeast Asia, not isolated incidents but crimes committed on a day-to-day basis with the full awareness of officers at all levels of command. There are some that, because of personal experience, are just a little more passionately opposed than many of us to a prospective Kerry presidency. Just a little.
I only know that the young men, and now women, wearing the uniforms must be protected from this man, John Kerry. It's not just that he isn't fit to command them, he is not fit to speak their names.
