Please tell me that Patti Davis, daughter of Nancy Reagan and the late President Ronald Reagan, is trying her hand at satire:
Mother Nature has picked up on all the anger and meanness that is bubbling up from the big land mass with the two-party political system and an election looming, and she is responding with her own version of anger and meanness—one hurricane after another.[SNIP]
It seems perfectly plausible to me that Nature, bombarded by all this nastiness rising up into the atmosphere, felt left out and decided, “Hey, I’m going to get into the act, too. A few hurricanes ought to do it.” Even Mother Nature might want to be trendy, and what’s more trendy now than rage? Listen to how people talk about the hurricanes; they use words like “mean” and “angry”. They talk about Nature’s fury. If you weren’t listening carefully, you might think they were referring to the presidential race. [SNIP]
We certainly can’t prove that there isn’t a link between human anger and violent weather patterns, so why not consider the possibility? This is your brain with a Moonbattery as a power source.

Can we disprove the idea that Patti Davis is a holograph sent by Martians to confuse us? I think not, therefore we must consider it.
BTW, I inadvertantly forgot u on my bloggers' pajama fashion show, but have since corrected the omission. You may wish I'd left well-enough alone.

Yeah, I'm thinking up a storm right this minute.

She's living proof that not spending enough time with your kids when they're growing up can cause permanent personality disorder.

What's sad about the offspring of Ronald Reagan is, the one who was dissed the most, is the only one carrying on is Ronald Reagan's footsteps; Michael Reagan.

Good freaking lord, how arrogant do you have to be to believe you can affect the weather with your emotions? At hurricane scale, no less?
Posted by: LabRat | September 19, 2004 at 02:21 PM
Sorry Patti, hurricane strength and frequency has more to do with 40 yr cycles in sea water temperature than anyones emotional state, individually or collectively. Mother Nature has a more direct method of getting involved, basically culling out those humans that don't develope any common sense, like yourself.

I find it hilarious and ironic that you folks are getting all in a tizzy over the Davis article when you barely made a peep about and found the following entirely humorous:

Where did everyone's sense of humor go?
Hmmm.

All I can say is that it may or may not be a coincidence that hurricanes rotate to the Left.

Deb: The key to determining whether a piece is humorous or serious is context. Does the text appear in a publication known for serious news? Is it in the publication's humor/satire section? Is it on a blog known for humor? Is it on a blog that has mostly serious content, but filed in the author's humor/satire category? These are the types of questions one should ask when trying to answer the rhetorical question: "Are you kidding?"
Have read Anna's content (Primal Purge) before--you ought to check it out; the girl is a riot--I know that she's kidding around in her usual sharp-edged manner on her own private platform. In short, Anna's whole blog is satire (at least I hope). :-)
Ms. Davis, on the other hand, wrote this piece for a major news organization. Now unless there's something on the Newsweek/MSNBC page that indicates that this is a humor piece (please point it out to me), I can only conclude that Ms. Davis is serious.

No worse than that little twit of a brother, Ron Jr. His humor is so shallow, you can see the silt at the bottom. He fancies himself to be the great "communicator" his father was, but he falls a few pebbles short.

I actually feel kind of sorry for Ron and Patti. How must it feel to know that the main reason that people even TALK to you, much less give you writing and speaking gigs, is that YOU hate your father and everything he worked for as much as THEY do?
And how must it feel to know that you will never NEVER be more than a footnote to historians of that hated father?

Now now, DaveP, don't forget that Ronny Jr. still has that Dog Show gig on Animal Planet, and you can still see Patti in all her glory in a back issue of Playboy (zzzzz).

Just wanted to say your use of "moonbattery" is the best pun ever.
Posted by: Persnickety | September 20, 2004 at 07:14 AM
Davis is just another irrational lefty arguing for a one party state.
Posted by: Johnny Knuckles | September 20, 2004 at 08:21 AM
Iron Mike: Now wait a minute. I can buy Ron getting his job legitimately (insert obvious nasty line here), but can you honestly say that Patti would've been allowed within a quarter-mile of Playboy's pages ON HER OWN MERIT? ;)

We can all agree that it's funny. I'm not sure if it's necessary to know if I'm laughing with her or at her.

Jeepers, Mothah Nature must not care about the horrors inflicted on poor Africans over these last few decades. Maybe MN is just concerned with US Federal election laws.... yeah right. The sad thing is that many on the left will "glow" when they read Patti's confirmation of what they already think. bummer moonbats.
