Dude…er…Colonel!
Did your momma let you go out of the house like that, sir? (Ah, the beauty of being retired.)

I got your weeny (figuratively speaking). How's that? :-P

Juliette,
The 'dude' has an excuse...
Hurricane Ivan's winds that extend 105 miles from the eye obviously reached the man's shoulders...
Yea, I know... pretty lame...

Maybe the video was shot at a house of mirrors.... no...no, that doesn't work

Pardon my ignorance... but isn't he supposed to be wearing a tie?
Posted by: DaveP. | September 16, 2004 at 08:42 PM
Dave P: A tie/tab is optional with a short-sleeve blue shirt/blouse (the appropriate one of which I certainly hope this poor guy is wearing).

Maybe the Air Force is different than the Navy, but isn't the T-shirt part of the uniform, and isn't the T-shirt collar supposed to show whe n wearing the short sleaved shirt with the collar open?

There was a time when the AF required men to wear v-neck t-shirts under the tieless short-sleeve shirt, so that the t-shirt wouldn't show. The AF soon discovered that this look was worse than the visible t-shirt. Being a woman--and having been retired for nearly a year now--I haven't kept up on the minutiae of male (or female) uniform standards. I do know the more obvious ones, however.

I still say cut the man some slack. Not a lot but some. He is fighting a hurricane after all. I am sure he is getting razzed a lot right now by folks he works with. And that may be all the punishment needed.

Ben: I agree about the slack. Good thing (for him) that his nametag is obscured by the FoxNews banner (assuming he's wearing one). ;-)

Couple things:
1) Juliette: we men still have to wear a v-neck t-shirt when not wearing a tie.
2) Has anyone thought that this might be a prank? I did a prank like this on a little prick lieutenant many, many years ago (flipped his two ribbons around on his service dress). Sadly for the prick, he didn't discover it til a colonel told him he had his ribbons in the wrong order!
3) This is a reserve guy. I've seen worse. (Sorry Juliette!)

Iron Mike,
Worse? Gosh I spent 10 years in the reserves (8 as an officer) and I would have ben mighty embarrassed by a slip-up like the LTC's.
I do have to admit that there were a lot of our personnel who took things a little less seriously than I did though.

Iron Mike: It looks stupid, far more unprofessional than the top of a with t-shirt.
Posted by: baldilocks | September 17, 2004 at 09:24 AM
I'll second that Juliette. In addition to military attire, in my current profession, I can't stand to see a uniformed cop wearing a v-neck. The top of a crew neck T looks more professional.

McPeak didn't do us any favors when he advocated the manly V-neck t-shirt. We thought he had a fetish for chest hair or something...
Well, maybe the Col. above had a rough night, and the TV crew decided they'd play a trick on him. "Whoops, your epaulet is undone! Let me get that for you..."
Heaven help him if he EVER runs for President, though.
